Calving Season, Midlife & Finding What Works for Your Body

Calving season is one of our favorite times of year, and also one of the most intense.

 

It’s not just a marathon of physical demands, but also mental focus and fortitude.

 

And I need my body to keep up!

 

Of course I do the best I can to take care: sleep, eat well (cue the jerky), shower once in a while, and take a break when possible, but there are some days things don’t go perfectly.

 

When they need help, animals don’t care about the time of day, if you have already put in 14 hours of work, if you’re sore, tired or hungry, cold or wet. They just need us, and we’re happy to help.

 

Being stewards of these animals is a huge blessing and also a responsibility we don’t take lightly.

 

Just like mineral, salt and good quality hay for the cows and horses, we keep our own additives simple.

 

We don’t mind spending money for what works, but we have to see and feel the results.

 

And with menopause and decades of injuries, my body is not as resilient as it used to be. Am I healthy?
 
Yes!
 
According to basic bloodwork and all the exams.

 

But I still find myself needing extra support. And this is where peptides and BHRT have come in.

 

We hear a lot about peptides for weightloss and sure, there is that benefit. But can we please stop focusing only on the scale for a moment?
 
We raise cattle- their value at the sale is by weight.
 
You and I are humans- our value is not calculated in pounds!

 

The quality of life and being able to do what we want/ need to do is my focus.
 
So, let’s focus on healthy body composition, mental and emotional health, healing from injuries, dropping visceral fat, insulin resistance, and the aches and pains that show up about the time estrogen and progesterone leave!

 

These are things I’ve noticed improving with this extra support.

 

Are they the only tools? Nope.
 
Do they work and keep my routine simple without fillers and negative side effects?
 
Definitely!

 

Let’s face it- who has time in midlife to mess around anymore? We want to do what we want, when we want, and use what works so we can keep going.
